I love Texas! Yes, I am a native Texan, but it is more than just having pride in where you are from. The people from Texas are just nice. Plain and simple. Nice! And these two- mom and daughter- are no exception. My favorite picture from the shoot is the one where I caught the mom smiling. I know, L, that you said you don't like your smile, but believe me, it is beautiful- as are you and your daughter!

Let's face it. Keeping up with your blog is not always easy for a photographer. It is usually the last thing on my list of "things to do." I think I am going to have to make a New Year's resolution to keep it updated and to build a better looking page. It is not that I don't want to share the photos from my latest shoot. (I always manage to get some on my face book page.) It is just that I am obsessed with getting my clients photos edited right after their shoot so they can have them the next day, and that usually means it is late night/ early morning before I finish editing and posting their proofs to my site. Say for instance, right now it is 12:34 am, and I am waiting for the photos to batch re-size so I can upload all 265 of them to my client's gallery.

Well, here are a few from today's family shoot on the beach. This family was so cute. It was their kids first time ever seeing the ocean, and they truly made me smile! So for today folks, my blog is updated. :)

Jeans For Teens

My school collected over 200 pairs of jeans in one week to help the Brevard County homeless. Wouldn't it be great if everyone looked around for a need and did something to help out their community? If we could collect over 200 pairs of jeans in just 5 days, imagine what we else we could accomplish? My challenge to myself and to my students this week is to do something nice for someone. Let's see what alittle kindness can do!

Merritt Island Christian Homecoming 2010

Another successful homecoming at MICS... the week started with our anual Lip Sync and ended with a black light pep rally and black light dance at Cocoa Beach Country Club. It was beyond a busy couple of weeks for me, as I ended up in charge of the entire week's festivities again. Thankfully, I had some awesome help this year- Leigh, my best friend and fellow art teacher, who always supports me when I volunteer "us" for "everything" and cheerleading sponsors Carri and Kylie were awesome! The pep rally was so much fun that it was worth the late nights including setting up the gym till midnight. Donna and the high school teachers performed an incredible Blue Man type of performance with tennis balls. Elvis, Mr. Bopp, showed off his moves as the emmcee of the lip sync, and 11th grader, Spencer, who won the lip sync graciously volunteered last minute to wear a blow up glow in the dark fat man suit and entertain us at the pep rally. Many students helped including our homecoming King, Alex, who ran sound for us. Without all of you and countless other helpers, we couldn't have pulled off such a great event! So thank you- all of you; you know who you are even if I did not mention you by name. Even though I was "dead dog" tired Saturday from setting up the dance all day, I grabbed some unsweet tea from McDonal's and a cappachino and headed off to Cocoa to take pictures of the students. I loved seeing them all dressed up, and I felt proud of each one of them as I spend so much time with them that I feel like they are my kidos. And as I finished taking formal pictures for the dance, and began looking around to take casual shot;s and I saw how much fun they were having, a huge smile came across my face and I thought, "this was totally worth the effort!" Here are a couple pictures from our week!

From the flowers to the table favors, it was pure class. Moreover, Adria was a stunning bride! She looked like a Hollywood glamour girl, and you couldn't take your eyes off her. Sophisticated Gents provided the lighting, monogram, and DJ services. Frederick, the owner, was great! Thank you Adria and Mike for allowing me to witness your beautiful wedding through my camera lens. I hope you like your pictures, and I hope you have a lifetime of happiness!

I am a bit behind on my blogging. I have been very busy lately. I am currently working on editing pictures from a VERY BEAUTIFUL wedding! The bride looked like a movie star; and as I process the pictures, I have to smile at how perfect every detail turned out because I know she must have spent hours deciding on "just the right" everything. Well, she nailed it because I have never seen a wedding that perfect. I also have to give a shout out to "Sophisticated Gents" DJ; if you are looking for a DJ, Fredrick, the owner, is great. He is so nice and really made the reception fun. I can't wait to post some pictures from the special day.
I have also been busy taking pictures for schools. I recently shot the cheer squad from Edgewood. What an energetic bunch! If only I could bottle their enthusiasm, I would be rich...:) Homecoming starts next week for Merritt Island Christian, and I will be at the waterfront to take pictures for the kids and then will be shooting their formal pictures. About a week after that, I will be shooting Edgewood's 7th grade dance. I love being a part of the school scene and getting to share a bit of the kid's big night.
I will get back to work now processing pictures... No more guilt; I updated my blog, right? :)

Well, summer is offically over; we all headed back to school this week. It was bitter sweet because I like not having to get up at 6 am every morning, but it was also good to see the new bunch of students that I get the priveldge of teaching this year. There were some new faces, as well as some returning ones. I am so excited to share my passion of photography with my two new photo classes! I am also excited to take on the new/ "old" (it has been several years) responsibilty of producing the school's yearbook. And I have a great bunch of 9th graders in English. Yes, I teach everything! :) And last but not least, I have two great art classes that I get to be super creative with all year! I look foward to sharing some of my student's work on my bog in the future.

Rachel is a senior that I took photos of last year, so I was so excited when her family asked me to shoot their family pictures. I can't tell you how excited I was to see my dear friends Todd and Kristi this past weekend and sepend time with their beautiful family! We had so much fun talking about old times in college and laughing together about all the silly, sometimes stupid, things we did when we were in our sorority days. On the way to the airport, I made them stop by the river for a quick family photo. I only wish we had more time together. Kristi, we can't wait 11 years befor the next time we see eachother!

I can't believe it has been a year since I started my own photography business.
3 weddings- a 4th Saturday and 2 more on the calendar :), 3 engagements, 1 anniversary, 1 50th birthday celebration, 13 families, 12 seniors, 2 teens, 4 trash the dress sessions, 2 head shots, 3 school dances, 4 school events, and 1 maternity session later, I am in love with what I do! I get to meet people from all over the country. I have taken people's pictures that were here visiting from Arkansas, Ohio, Kentucky, and Texas. It is great meeting new people and having the opportunity to capture special moments in the life thru pictures. All I can say is God is good, and I give Him all the glory! As I start my second year, I am happy to announce that I am launching a new web site and have a fan page on Facebook. Tune in to Facebook for specials and ucoming events. A special thank you to everyone who supported me in the decesion to "go for it;" to my assistant and middle child, Cassie, for carrying my equipment and holding up reflectors; to my oldest daughter, Kate, for picking out songs for my site and helping me pick out pictures for my site; to my husband, Dave, for believing in me enough to buy all of my equipment, and to all my customers who started this journey with me. I can't wait to see what God has in store for year #2! :)

This was a special maternity shoot for my friend Melody because her husband is in the Airforce and left for training a few days after our shoot. He won't be back until close to when the baby is due so we are praying that Melody delivers on time. These two were so cute and playful, and it was easy to see how much they adore each other. I love my job! This year I got to plan homecoming. We had a crazy, fun- filled week including: building parade floats, bowling, lip sync, powder puff, and pack the gym. We kicked the week off with a dance on the Indian River Queen. It was a beautiful, windy night witha full moon. The kids had a fantastic time, and I enjoyed taking their pictures and being a part of their fun week. You can check out their pictures under events on my website.
